My friend is getting married around Christmas this year. She always dreamed of having a white wedding and winter wedding photography present on that day. I just purchased a Tamron 90mm Macro lens. Previously, I have owned several Tamron lenses but I am not happy with the quality. Most Tamron lenses are built quite poor. For the type of photos I want to take, it sounds like a potential lens. However, caution is given about using the lens in poor lighting. Apparently pictures can be blurry. I don’t think that that will cause too much of a problem for me. We tend to have a lot of bright sunny days. Although some of the animals could be hiding in the manmade caves or under the shade of a tree, for the most part I think that I would get decent shots.
Several of the reviews stated that the Canon EF 75-300mm lens has low-speed focusing. They felt that it was too slow and certainly couldn’t take active shots. So if I wanted to take photos of swinging monkeys or an elephant cooling off under the water, this might not be the best lens to use.
I’m still not sure if I’m going to consider purchasing this lens or not. I want to read some more reviews and think about it. For the price, I feel that I’ll get enough decent pictures and I’ll be satisfied. Yet, sometimes I wonder if I should just purchase a more expensive lens that has more capabilities.
